N500m cash to be distributed to Gombe women, as First Lady relaunches funds disbursement to over 2000 beneficiaries in Akko LG

Gombe State First Lady, Asma’u Inuwa Yahaya, has relaunched the distribution of over N45m to more than 2000 women in Akko local government area of the state as empowerment funds for them to engage in different trades and support their families.


The distribution was in addition to 4,680 bags of rice, 4,680 bags of maize and 4,680 parcel of wrappers to be given to over 14,000 women.
This is the continuation of the empowerment initiative under the women-oriented policies that Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has embarked upon, through the first lady’s office .
According to the statement by the SSA to the First Lady Bintu Sunmonu, “empowering Women financially is crucial to the development of our society, which is the best way to help families and make a great impact at the household level. Studies have shown if you assist women with money or other items,she is likely to spend at least 80% of it on the family. Thus , our women empowerment programmes, inspired by our deep desire and commitment to create the greatest social impact.”
She also explained the involvement of women in key government positions example female commissioners, Local government chairperson, councillors, SSAs’, SAs, securing Federal Government appointments through the At Risk Children Project, as well as providing empowerment tools, free educational and health care services to women and the girl- child,just to mention a few.
As the governor’s wife canvasses for women’s votes for the return of her husband as Gombe State governor the second time, for continuity of dividends of democracy, Asma’u Inuwa Yahaya appreciated the leading role they played at the last polls,urging them to remain resolute and unwavering in the face of opposition.
The speaker, Gombe State House of Assembly who is the Sarkin Arewan Akko, Abubakar Luggerewo, Caretaker Chairman Akko LGA, Muhammad Usman Buba Barambu, and Women Leaders of the State, Central zone and Akko LG ,all poured encomiums on governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s visionary leadership that is impacting positively, on the life of the citizenry.

In his closing remark , the royal father Lamido Akko, Alhaji Muhammadu Umar Atiku, thanked the First Lady for finding Akko worthy of flagging-off the gigantic project which is a turning point for many, urging them to ensure registration and collection of their voter cards at designated centres, for they are their tickets to winning the elections.
He also joined the speaker of the house of assembly, caretaker chairman of Akko LG and the women leaders in re-assuring the First Lady on behalf of the women, of their votes during the election .

Earlier on arrival, the First Lady paid homage to Lamido Akko, Alhaji Muhammad Umar Atiku at his palace, to seek the royal father’s blessings .
Yahaya was accompanied by the wives of the deputy Governor, Speaker, SSG, Commissioners, women leaders, friends and well wishers
