30 Journalists get NPC Census training in Gombe
No fewer than 30 journalists in Gombe State have got census training organised by National Population Commission to train them on effective coverage of the scheduled 2023 Population and Housing Census.
Our Correspondent reports that the one-day capacity building workshop had electronic and print media, who were sensitised on the innovation of 2023 census.
Participants were informed about their roles during the head count.

Speaking, Federal Commissioner of the National Population Commission for Gombe, Abubakar Danburam, urged residents to participate overwhelmingly, stressing that they have the unique opportunity to be enumerated.
According to Danburam, “the commission had also trained state facilitators to the effective covering, through the use of Digital Personal Assistant Device”, adding that the training of Local Government Ad hoc staff comprising supervisors and enumerators would soon take place in the state.
He disclosed that the outcome of the preparatory activities of the 2023 Population and housing census had been reassuring, because the commission had concluded the demarcation of the 774 LGAs in all the States of the federation including the FCT.
He said there were only two local government areas remaining, which are Abadam in Borno State and Birnin Gwari in Kaduna state, due to insecurity, but that they had been demarcated through a hybrid method.
“the Commission had conducted the first and second census pre-tests, to ascertain the effect use of the census instruments in preparation for the census,” he added.
Also speaking, the State Director of the NPC Jude Maigari, noted that collaboration would yield positive results especially in enlightening the more residents especially those in the hinterland.
