Presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party Atiku Abubakar, won across the 11 Local Government Areas of Gombe State.
Announcing the results on Monday, 2023 Presidential Election Results State Collation Officer, Professor Maimuna Waziri, Vice Chancellor, Federal University Gashua, disclosed that Gombe has 1,549,243 registered voters, with 542,997 as total Accredited Voters.
She noted that 533,778 amounts to the total votes cast, with 510,043 as number of Valid votes, adding that 23,735 votes were rejected.
Waziri said, “A 284, AA 296, AAC 158, ADC 1,446, ADP 765, APC 146,977, APGA 558, APM 348, APP 208, BP 210, LP 26,160, NNPP 10,520, NRM 1,061, PDP 319,123, PRP 384, SDP 137, YPP 439, ZLP 969.”
In what looks like a hurricane PDP has won two out of three senatorial districts election namely; Gombe North Ibrahim Dankwambo, Gombe South; Yaro Anthony-Siyako, leaving Gombe Central which was won by candidate of the All Progressives Congress Danjuma Goje.
Our Correspondent reports that out of six House of Representatives seats PDP has clinched five, while APC retains one.
Gombe South Billiri/Balanga (Ali Isa), and Kaltungo/Shongom Federal Constituencies (Obed Shehu), which were previously controlled by the governing APC.
Gombe North; Gombe/Kwami/ Funakaye Federal Constituency was retained by Yaya Tongo, who defected to the Peoples Democratic Party whereas Dukku/Nafada former Minister of State for Education Aishatu Dukku, failed in her bid to retain her seat as she was defeated by PDP’s Abdullahi El-Rasheed.
In Gombe Central; Usman Bello, Chairman Police Affairs House Committee retained his seat as a representative of Akko under the platform of the APC. Bello defeated Aishatu Mohammed of the PDP in the contest.
