Facts about Gombe Chief Judge, Justice Halima Sadiyya Mohammed

Honourable Justice Halima Sadiyya Mohammed is the second substantive female Chief Judge of Gombe State after Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, and the number four CJ, since the creation of Gombe State in 1996 was sworn-in on Thursday by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.

Mohammed had LLB (Hons) degree in 1985 at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and she was called to Bar in 1987 after serving her one year mandatory National Youth Service in 1987.
The Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya who described Justice Mohammed as a woman of redoubtable legal expertise, outstanding experience, strong character, and remarkable integrity, “will continue to serve as source of inspiration to womanhood.”
She proceeded to University of Jos where she had her LLM ( Masters of Law) from 1999 to 2001 and a certificate in computer.
According to the Governor, Justice Mohammed is an experienced jurist whom he had, no doubt, that she has what it takes to impact positively on the administration of justice in Gombe State.
The jurist has served in various positions as a State Counsel 11 with the defunct Bauchi State, Ministry of Justice in 1987 and rose through normal promotions to the post of Deputy Chief Registrar ( Process and Litigation) in 2000 and in 200, she was appointed as High Court Judge in Gombe State Judiciary on 19th June.

Mohammed whom the state Governor believes that she will discharge her duties in this new role with utmost commitment and integrity, as she has always done for the benefit of the State had served as Chairman and member of several Governorship and Legislative Election Petition Tribunals in various states of the federation and she was born in 3rd May 1963 in Tula, Kaltungo Local Government Area of Gombe State.
No doubt, the Governor observed that the importance of having such judicial officers with high levels of experience and moral rectitude at this moment in the national history cannot be over emphasized and incidentally, the new Chief Judge of the state had attended several capacity development courses and conferences both within and outside the country has given great advantages to serve in the present position faithfully, effectively, efficiently, dedicatedly to discharge on the new responsibilities.
Meanwhile, Justice Halima Sadiyya Mohammed is also a member of several Associations and unions and also was appointed as the Acting Chief Judge of Gombe State before her present swearing in as the Chief Judge of the state by Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.
The Governor who lamented on the fact that, “It is undeniable that unbridled corruption, violent crimes and numerous other forms of criminal behaviours have bedevilled our nation, making it extremely difficult, if not completely impossible, to meet our development aspirations and consolidate our constitutional democracy.”
He explained that these challenges facing the nation cannot be tamed without ensuring swift, sure, and fair administration of justice, which, therefore goes without saying that we require an incorruptible judiciary where justice shall be dispensed to all manner of people in the State without discrimination, fear or favour.
