No fewer than 36 graduates have been engaged by the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), to coach about 300 students in order to obtain their papers ahead of tertiary education.
The Graduate Coaching Scheme, is under the Special Public Works (SPW), of the Directorate.
Our Correspondent reports that the facilitators would be paid N20,000 per month totalling N60,000 for the three months.
Speaking during the inauguration of the coaching scheme in Kumo, Director-General of NDE, Abubakar Fikpo, disclosed that the scheme was designed to address the increasing number of school leavers
Represented by the State Coordinator Stephen Jediel, Fikpo said 300 beneficiaries were selected across three senatorial districts following their educational backgrounds.

Fikpo said, “So that they can meet the university requirements for admission. This strategy is intended to revisit the revision of past question papers of WAEC, GCE, NECO and JAMB.”
He said the Directorate liaised with both State Ministry of Education and Local Education Authority at the local government level to source for the instructors.
According to him, the coaching would be implemented by 12 carefully selected university graduates of different courses of study, adding that those biased towards education would serve as facilitators.
“A total of 12 graduates per each senatorial district will be selected for the implementation and as many as 100 trainees will be trained for a period of three months.
“The trainees are selected from the three senatorial district. The target is to meet up with the target of 2023 SSCE, Jamb and NECO examinations across the country,” he said.
While commending the beneficiaries, he noted that the scheme would achieve the targeted goal of preparing them for a chance to further their academic endeavours, “for school leavers to make up their papers with credits and distinctions. NDE shall closely monitor the scheme to ascertain the efficient utilisation of human and material,” he said.
The NDE boss appealed to trainees especially those who are indigent to take the opportunity seriously, adding that, “I want to call on the school leavers those that dropped out of the school due to poverty to take advantage of the opportunity.”
