Announcing the results, the returning officer who is also the Vice Chancellor, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi, Prof. Muhammed Ahmed Abdul’aziz, said the PDP polled 189, 017 votes to beat Peter Obi of the Labour Party who scored 146, 315, while  Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) scored 135, 165 votes, and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the NNPP got 12, 818 votes.

Prof. Abdul’aziz described the election as peaceful, free, fair, and credible.

He however attributed the delay in announcing the results to the distance of some local government areas of the state as well as the terrain.

Commenting on the exercise, Taraba State INEC Resident Commissioner, Umar Muktar Gajram, described it as successful and promised to improve in identified areas where some lapses were recorded.

Gajiram also reassured people of the state of the commission’s commitment to conducting free, fair, credible, and transparent elections across the state.

Dr Esther Aloko, an agent of the Labour Party, described the election as free and fair, called on INEC to ensure that citizens are not disenfranchised by providing enough functional BVAS to all polling units of the state, during the Governorship and state houses of assembly election.
