USAID provides technical assistance to citizens’ budget committee
The United State Agency for International Development, State2State activity is providing technical assistance to Adamawa citizens’ budget committee to prepare 2023 citizens’ budget.
Speaking at the opening of three-day workshop organised by State2State in Yola, Ms Suzanne Myada, USAID’s Public Financial Management Specialist said the objective of the workshop was to support state officials to prepare 2023 budget.
Myada said that the workshop would also help state officials publish the 2023 budget for citizens to understand.
She said this would help the public to understand the annual budget when simplified and translated to English and Hausa languages.
Myada urged the participants to actively participate, take ownership and responsibility of producing citizens budget annually.
“We expect you to take this responsibility very seriously and publish it online to ease access by citizens in both English and Hausa languages.
“So everyone should contribute to get the work done and be able to sustain it even without State2State,”she said.
According to her, beginning from 2023, the Adamawa Citizens Budget will also include information on Gender and Social Inclusion (GESI) and Citizens Nominated Projects.
