After Supreme court victory: Kano PDP guber candidate seeks youths, elders support
The Kano State Gubernatorial candidate on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, Sadiq Wali, on Friday in Kano, called on elder statesmen, youths and stakeholders to join hands with the party, so as to uplift Kano to the height that it’s supposed to be.
While chatting, with newsmen in Kano, Wali lamented that prior to his victory at the Supreme Court, 10 days away to the commencement of gubernatorial election, the PDP under Shehu Sagagi was just an amalgam of about 10 people, with only a state executive in existence.
“If you go down to the Local Government Areas and ward level, the Chairmen and the party executives double for the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), not the (PDP), as they had already concluded their contract, with the PDP.”
“We had a supreme court judgment, 10 days to the commencement of the gubernatorial election, thinking that by doing that, they have also crippled our chances of clinching the gubernatorial seat in Kano.”
“Well, only God gives and takes away but as far as we are concerned, that will not deter us, because if you want to succeed, you must have to try and try again, so you plan to succeed and not plan to fail. We are going to move forward with our candidature, as well as reach out to as many people, as possible via the radio, social media, the print media and physically, to try and market our candidature from what it was from Day one, not what it was intended to be. We are not anybody’s surrogate, unlike those that were claiming that in the beginning.”
According to Wali, the truth has manifested itself right now, as I Sadiq Wali, I am gunning for the governorship of Kano State on the platform of the PDP. I have been gunning for that position, since the primary elections and I am still running for that position. I am not merging with anybody or group or stepping down for anyone.
“I intend to do the best I can in transforming the economic status, ranging agriculture to business and commerce and by the grace of God, if given the opportunity to serve, as the governor of Kano, we shall try to transform Kano, as you know it, not to divide, not to London or Washington. We will take it back to its roots, where it was, which we would be pride to call ourselves the people of Kano.
“ When we go to any part of the country, Kano will emerge as the 10 top per cent of the most educated in the country, where our businesses will thrive and infrastructure not left to decay, decades after decades, that is what we want. For this to be transformed into reality, all the good people of Kano should troop out on guber election day and cast their votes for the PDP.”
