APC candidate militarising electoral process – Bauchi Gov
Bauchi State Governor and the Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Bala Mohammed, has lamented that his opponent of the All Progressives Congress, Sadique Abubakar, is using force and using the Nigeria Air Force in the electoral process.
He stated this in an interview with journalists shortly after he and his wife cast their votes at their Bakin Dutse Polling Unit 008, in Yelwan Duguri, Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The Governor said he had complained to the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) and security agencies on the development which he described as disturbing, but nothing was done.
He however said that he is willing to accept whatever outcome of the election would be.
“I am not aware (of the helicopter hovering around the Council). But I have been complaining about the militarisation of the electoral process and I have complained to Mr. President, I have complained to all the security agencies.
“Left to me, I didn’t want any Air Force Personnel to participate in the election because a former Chief of Air Staff is competing with me.
“I didn’t want him to be given undue advantage and latitude. But I am ready to accept whatever fate comes to me, and it is not fair for the Air Force to be hovering around people knowing fully well that they are already on one side, on the side of the APC gubernatorial candidate who has never hidden his desire and his penchants for militarizing or shooting people or terrorizing people,” he stated.
