Bitter, Sweet, Sour Lessons From 2023 Elections
By GeneralShugar
In the just-completed general elections of 2023
Bitter, sweet and sour lessons have been learned from the just concluded state house of assembly and the governor’s race.
I hope these monsters we’ve created as a people will not eat us up in the long run
It’s not unreasonable to ask for a better country, I dare think.
but right before our eyes
We observed the contributions of sectionalism and religion.
What part ethnicity played?
Election-related manipulation of our humanity. The irony is that everyone was justified in their positions.
Yet, there is an appropriate generalisation of all of these.
I watched today both online and off with contempt.
How some individuals sold their rights for 500 Naira. How some people murdered others by stabbing them because they supported their candidate for a stipend
I hope that one day the creature we have bred won’t hunt us. I also hope that our country’s situation won’t be like the story of the blind dog trainer who later opted to bite his owner after gaining site, because it never knew the owner from the onset.
Some of you have long since ruined friendships and connections with individuals for politicians that may not even know you.
While some of you have already been identified and are being trained as thugs and touts for the upcoming general elections in four years time, some of these politicians are already training their children for political offices.
You’re just known for your problems.
Is it even a job, you ask?
If your response is yes, why aren’t their kids working in this field?
Is that the only skill you possess?
Oh well, I hope you won’t subsequently complain about everything continuing as usual. Would you have a moral basis for doing so?
Will history accurately judge you?
Remember that there are both good and terrible people in any political party.
Oh well, we have some interesting seasons ahead.
What do we impart to the following generation?
Would this country get better? is the operative rhetorical question here.
