Discontinue journey, seek prayers – Kano Governor-elect begs victory trekkers
Inundated with plans on fixing the State and restoring the pride and confidence of the people that have been battered in eight years, the Kano State Governor-elect, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, has urged his supporters and members of the New Nigeria People’s Party to embark on prayers to Allah for ingenuity and guidance for his leadership towards delivering the dividends of democracy.
The prayers, he said, are sufficient as a show of solidarity and celebration of his victory at the Saturday’s polls and not miles of trek by some of his enthusiasts in some quarters especially given the state of insecurity with banditry, kidnapping and terrorism threatening peaceful movement of people and goods across the length and breadth of the country.
The call was contained in a statement by Sanusi Bature, the spokesperson to the Governor-Elect, a copy of which was made available to the Punch on Wednesday.
While thanking the supporters within and outside Kano State, the Governor-elect urged the trekkers to discontinue the journey as that may not reasonably contribute to solving lots of economic and social challenges awaiting the incoming government after taking over on May 29, 2023.
He said the incoming Kano State government will be committed to a greater future of the people with security, health, education, economic, infrastructure and good welfare for aged, civil servants and private sector being the anthem of Engr. Abba-led administration.
“As a Kano people-centered Governor, Engr. Abba tasked all hands to be on deck towards ensuring the actualisation of Kwankwasiyya and the NNPP vision for responsive leadership that works for all in the State, ” Bature quoted the governor-elect as saying in the statement.
