Following the victory of Dr Alex Otti of the Labour Party in Abia, the state was late Wednesday turned into massive jubilation that surpasses that of Calabar carnival.

Abians in the jubilant mood lamented that in the past 24 years rule of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP the state has been impoverished and in comatose.

As a result therefore, youths pulled of their shirts and danced along the streets of Umuahia the state capital and Aba, the commercial nerve centre of the state.

The near-carnival saw gridlock throughout Abia metropolitan cities, and jubilant youths waving LP flag.

Some painted their faces with powder and chalk, while others paraded their cultural masquerades, shouting, “Happy Independence Abia State.”

Churches were not left out as they continue to jubilate and sharing inspirational materials, even as roadside hawkers dance with their wares well balanced on their heads.

One Chukwuma Eze, an LP faithful said, “Enough is enough. We have suffered and don’t want that suffering any longer. Abia is now Ottified.”

One woman who said she s a civil servant, Chika Okpara said “We have died but God has answered our prayers. Let them go and rest”.

Meanwhile, as the celebration continues, the state government, Okezie Ikpeazu has congratulated Dr. Otti over the victory.

In a Government Special Announcement, Ikpeazu noted that Dr Otti has fought a long battle over a very long period of time and deserves commendation for his staying power and resilience.

“Since we have come to the logical end of this battle, it is appropriate to congratulate the winner, Dr Alex Otti on his hard fought victory. In every battle, there will always be a winner and in the spirit of sportsmanship and love for our state, the Governor elect must see his victory as a higher call to service to the people of Abia State”, Ikpeazu said.

He assured the Governor-Elect that he will put in place every necessary measure to ensure a seamless transition from the present administration to his.

Others in the congratulatory list include the Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji, guber candidate.of ADC, Bishop Sunday Onuoha, that of APGA, Prof. Greg Ibe, among others.
