GombeGuberPoll: INEC, observers, political parties inspect sensitive materials

The Independent National Electoral Commission Gombe State Resident Electoral Commissioner Ibrahim Umar, on Thursday confirmed that they were set for the gubernatorial and state house of assembly polls.
Umar disclosed that the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System machines were reconfigured in the state, stressing that they were ready for the smooth conduct of elections.

The REC made this disclosure at the Central Bank of Nigeria, Gombe branch office where sensitive materials were distributed across the 11 Local Government Areas of the state .
He disclosed that refresher trainings have been organised for staff, following it observations in the last exercise.
According to him, “BVAS machines are working perfectly and we don’t have issues with our BVAS already all the reconfigurations are regulated, we have done the personality test and even right now training is ongoing for our staff and we already have backups. Refresher course training have been going on not only for those handling BVAS but SPOs and Collation officers.”
“All issues of logistics have been concluded. We have not taken the BVAS anywhere machines were reconfigured here,” the Resident Electoral Commissioner added.
Also speaking, Spokesman PDP’s Muhammad Barde campaign Ayuba Aluke, commended INEC for the arrangements.
He said, “The processes of the distribution of materials is going smoothly. We have not received any complaint from any of our agents or returning officers in any of the Local Government Areas. We are hoping it will be maintained.”
On his part, Moses Kyari, APC Publicity Secretary said the electoral body has shown commitment towards consolidating on its electoral gains.
“To call political parties agents to come and observe the distribution of materials is to say the least attempt to curtail rigging in the electoral process. They were all sealed and opened for the purpose of movement,” Kyari said.
