Gombe APC Campaign Council denies audios allegedly portraying Gov Yahaya’s voice

Gombe State All Progressives Congress Campaig Council has debunked audios linked to the gubernatorial candidate and current governor of Gombe State Muhammadu Yahaya.
According to a press statement, made available by Ismaila Misilli, Director, Media & Publicity APC Campaign Council Gombe State, he described the leaked viral audios as deepfake technology.
Recall that recently the party alerted the public of opposition’s alleged antics, geared towards tarnishing the APC candidate’s image.
In one of such audios, a voice allegedly said to belong to Yahaya, was said to have completed plans on how to bypass the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System machines, with support of the police, other security agencies excluding the 301 Artillery regiment commander, whom was said to have been threatened by the same voice that he would be dealt with.
He disclosed that the opposition has resolved to rascality where their party’s candidate was imitated for the sake of blackmailing him
He said, “It represents the height of desperation and political rascality that the opposition resorts to the use of deepfake technology, where criminals mimic the voice and video of certain individuals with the aim of blackmailing the governor and disinforming the people of Gombe State. Only yesterday, this same party was involved in another criminal act of forging and spreading a court order purportedly disqualifying a rival candidate.”
Lamenting the reason for the leaked audios, Misilli said the opposition had shown that they have nothing to campaign with other than to embark on campaign of calumny.
“Clearly, the opposition in Gombe State has nothing to campaign against Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s sterling achievements, as evidenced by the use of blackmail and evil propaganda. It is important to remind the opposition that elections are not won by blackmail and disinformation, but by demonstrating a candidate’s excellent record, experience, character, and integrity. There is no other candidate who can match Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s achievements in all of these areas,” The Council added.
