NigeriaElections2023: Tinubu’s victory for Africa, not only for APC – Gombe Gov

Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, on Wednesday said the triumph of the President-elect Bola Tinubu, means victory for Africa not only the state and All Progressives Congress.
Yahaya made the disclosure in an interview with journalists at his residence in Gombe, while congratulating Tinubu, on his electoral victory in last Saturday’s presidential election.
Our Correspondent reports that Yahaya who doubles as the North-East Coordinator of Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign failed to deliver his polling unit.
“Nigeria needs this victory; the victory is not for APC, Gombe and Nigeria alone, it for Africa. It for democracy that means the democratic world and I feel it will help in uplifting democracy not only here but throughout Africa,” Yahaya said.
Speaking about the need to vote APC candidates from top to bottom Yahaya appealed to residents to support the party win during gubernatorial elections, adding “preparatory to the governorship and House of Assembly election I want us to continue been steadfast, resolute, strong especially with the victory of the APC at the presidential level.”
Lamenting the performance of his party that came second in the state, following candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, who won the state, Yahaya said the 2023 presidential election was filled with surprises, stressing that Tinubu still got his required 25 percent in Gombe.
He said, “Yes, we got surprises but that has been a general issue all over the country. We are among those states that delivered minimum requirements of 25 percent for the APC considering the underlining factors. I have the believe that we will deliver on the governorship and house of assembly election.”
On his confidence about the gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections the governor said the party has the overwhelming capacity to deliver,”We have the tenacity and our people are really determined, and we have realised the mistakes we made in the last election and we shall make them up especially with the encouragement and the will developed in the people after the success at the national level with Asiwaju definitely our people will be stronger,” he said.
