By Terna Chikpa, Jalingo
Election observers working in Taraba state on Friday, urged the Independent National Electoral Commision, to step up in exercising her constitutional obligation in the forthcoming governorship and state house of assembly election to ensure free fair and credible exercise.
The International Standard Centre for Development and Future Leaders Global Initiative, in collaboration with other INEC accredited observers led by comrade Fidelis Nweke, while briefing journalists in Jalingo expressed dissatisfaction as both Nigerians and the International Communities have described the February 25th, presidential and national assembly election as flawed.
The observers said INEC needed to be up and doing to ensure a level playing field for all political parties participating in the upcoming exercise and redeem her image against criticism.
“Following the general criticism of the February 25th, presidential and national assembly election by both Nigerians and Intenational communities that the election was flawed, we wish to called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to step up in exercising her constitutional obligation in the upcoming governorship and state houses of assembly election.
“We call on the commission to be up and doing and ensure a level playing ground to all participating political parties and redeem her image. We wish to also call on electorates to ensure a violence free exercise and the candidates to also have the spirit of sportsmanship after the election, as the whole aim is for the development of Nigeria,” Nweke encouraged.
