Nigeria’s Aso Rock Presidential Villa, what to know
The workplace and the official residence of the President of Nigeria since 1991.
It is located at Yakubu Gowon Crescent, Three Arms Zone, Asokoro, Abuja, FCT, Nigeria.
Several names that are used for Aso Villa include: State House, The Rock and The Villa.
The Aso Rock villa is the most protected presidential state house in Africa.
Construction started 13 October 1989; 34 years ago. Completed 1 November 1991; 32 years ago. It is nothing but a palatial residence.
The villa is under the protection of the Presidential Guard Brigade. The Guard performs ceremonial and protective duties for the president.
The Villa is also protected by a squad of State Security Service Agents.
A squadron of the Mobile Police Force assigned solely for the protection of the President and the first family are also in place.
The particular size of the Aso Rock Villa is not known to date, there hasn’t been any actual measurement of the entire place.
The Aso Rock Villa features a Palladian and Neoclassical architectural design. This is one of the most prominent architectural styles anywhere in the world.
The President’s official residence and office can be accessed only by the President and his close aides.
You cannot pass the President’s gate if you’re not him, or a top aide, or a visiting president or associate of a foreign country.
