Otti warns Abia traders against scam alert
The Abia State Governor-elect, Dr. Alex Otti, says his attention has been drawn to the activities of some unpatriotic citizens, who are allegedly moving around some markets in Aba, using his name and that of his wife to extort unsuspecting members of the public with the fake assurances that they would be made market leaders.
The Abia governor-elect raised this alarm through a press statement signed by Ferdinand Ekeoma, his Special Adviser Media and Publicity on Monday.
The statement partly read, “Abia state Governor-elect hereby disassociates himself and his wife from such criminal act of extortion, which is in conflict with his administrative principles and calls on those behind these nefarious activities to discontinue forthwith and turn a new leaf, or be ready to face severe consequences.”
Otti further called on Abians, especially traders not to hesitate to identify, establish concrete evidence and report any person or persons using his name or that of his wife for extortion of any kind, urging them “to report to the nearest Police station , so that such a person or persons can be tracked down and brought to justice,” he added.
