No fewer than 526 Batch B stream I Corps members completed service in Gombe State, while three absconded, two others got extension for various offences.

Our correspondent reports that the corps members were found guilty by its disciplinary committee.
Disclosing this on Thursday during a low-key passing out ceremony at National Youth Service Corps Local Government office, Bolari, State Coordinator, Dawut Jidda, lauded their active participation in the week-long programmes packaged to commemorate NYSC at 50, imploring them not to despise little beginnings.

According to him, the Scheme upholds reward and punishment, adding that it would not condone indiscipline.
“A total of 526 passed out in Gombe State,out of which three corps members absconded and two got extension of service for various offences committed, after facing the corps disciplinary committee.
“Use your talents and ingenuity to add value to your life , Community and the nation at large. The big names we have in the fashion industry, theatres and business world started from somewhere,” he added.
Jidda also appreciated Corps members who stood out in Community Development Service by commending their selfless service and contributions, adding that, they successfully channelled their ingenuity to complementing the effort of the Government, especially in rural communities.
“There are awards for outstanding Corps members in Community Development,which include; Local Government award, State Honours Award and Presidential Honours Award. NYSC Gombe was ranked high at the just concluded Presidential Honours Award. I have no doubt that a good number of you will be chosen for commendation when the need arises,” he said.
The State Coordinator was also at the Federal Secretariat, where he addressed corps members from other Local Government Areas before they collected their certificate of National service, cautioning them against embarking on incessant journeys, night parties and indecent dressing.
