Gov Yahaya backs Gombe APC gale of expulsions

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, on Wednesday backed the happenings in his political party, the All Progressives Congress, where there have been gale of expulsions.
He made this disclosure in an interview with journalists at Gombe Airport, shortly after his return to Gombe after weeks of absence on Hajj.
Recall that Danjuma Goje, senator representing Gombe Central, Bulus Amos, senator representing Gombe South and Yunusa Abubakar, member representing Yalmatu Deba Federal Constituency for alleged anti-party activities.
Our correspondent reports that their various wards and local government area chairmen in a separate briefing announcing their expulsion said they failed to exonerate themselves from petitions of gross misconduct and publicly canvassing support for other parties and candidates.
On May 2, Chairman of APC in Bambam ward, Muhammad Kaka said the ward executives had no option but to expel Amos.
Kaka said the expulsion of the senator became imperative following the failure of the senator to defend himself against allegations levelled against him instead went ahead to issue threats to party executives at the ward.
“We held elections in our ward during the just concluded general elections and we have Amos from our ward who didn’t come out to partake in our political activities.
“Instead the senator went round with his supporters telling them not to vote the APC and in his polling unit and the surrounding polling units APC didn’t win any of those units because of his anti-party activities,” he said.
On April 18, Abdullahi Tanimu ward Chairman of Kashere expelled Goje, “open support for opposition party candidates by hosting the NNPP gubernatorial candidate and the PDP Akko Federal House of Representatives candidate at his residence and offering support against the interest of his party, the APC, among many other instances.
“Making unguarded utterances and pronouncements capable of undermining the APC administration in Gombe State.”
Reacting to questions about the current happenings in Gombe APC Yahaya said, “First there are leaders in the party and whatever they decide is biding on all of us, so I am also bound by the decision of the party.
“Developments are dynamic, so what has been happening is for the betterment of the people and the party.”
On the impact of his absence on May 29 handover activities, Yahaya noted that those who had been saddled with the responsibility in that regard have been doing their jobs.
“I am happy that I am back home and I assure the people that we shall continue to do the good works for the benefit of the people,” Yahaya added.
