May 29 Inauguration: NDLEA arrests 26 suspects in Gombe
…..seizes 2.654 kg of drugs

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Gombe State Commander, Okechukwu Nkere, has arrested 26 drug suspects and confiscated 2.654kgs of drugs following its ongoing mop up operation.
Our correspondent reports that the drugs include 2.570kgs of cannabis sativa and 84gms of psychotropic substances.
According to a press statement made available to journalists by the Public Affairs Officer on Sunday, Henry Ihebuzor, this was inline with preparation for the May 29 inauguration of the new administration.
Ihebuzor’s statement disclosed that this was in response to a directive from the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA Brigadier General Mohammed Buba Marwa, adding that the suspects were burst in various drug joints and
black spots across the state.
The statement partly read, “A total of 26 drug suspects have been arrested and seized 2.570kgs of cannabis sativa and 84gms of psychotropic substances, bringing the total seizure to 2.654kgs in the ongoing mop up operation following the preparation for the May 29 inauguration of the new administration.”
While assuring that the exercise would be sustained even after the handover ceremony, “The Commander warns drug dealers and traffickers in the state to desist in the act or face the wrath of the law as our search light is all over the nooks and crannies of the state to rid it of illicit drug activities.
“There will be no hiding place for drug dealers and traffickers in the state.The raids and dislodgement are across the state at different locations particularly at drug joints and black spots,” the statement added.
