Njiko Igbo Forum welcomes Iwuanyanywu’s emergence as Ohanaeze Ndigbo President
The President of Njiko Igbo Forum Reverend Okechukwu Christopher Obioha, on Sunday welcomed the emergence of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanywu, as President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
Njiko Igbo Forum, a strong affiliate of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide since 1990, had in a previous statement rejected Iwuanyanywu, following varying concerns raised by the group.
Making a U-turn in a press statement obtained by PERISCOPE NIGERIA, the Forum said after making consultation chose to accept Iwuanyanywu.
The Forum noted that it wouldn’t want distractions from achieving the mandate freely given to Peter Obi, by the Nigerian people, saying that it wouldn’t accept articles against Iwuanyanywu’s emergence.
The statement partly read, “NJIKO IGBO FORUM, A strong affiliate of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide since 1999, after due consultations on the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide and the recent inauguration of Chief Iwuanyanwu as the President General, gives her approval and congratulated Chief Iwuanyanwu.
“We do not want any distraction in form or shape on the observant and pursuit of Peter Obi’s mandate given to him by majority of Nigerians on the 25th February, 2023.
“Therefore henceforth, we will not want to entertain any article or material at variance with our approval or position on the above subject matter.”
Obioha, also urged members both home and abroad to accord the needed support due to President of Ohanaeze’s leader, “Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu is the President General. We implore every Onyeigbo both home and in Diaspora to acknowledge this fact,” the statement added.
