Akpabio’s 10th senate will be labour friendly
By Ubong Ekpo
On the 18th of February 2012, I had an interview with a company in Lagos, to be their sales rep in Uyo.
The CEO of the company, Dr Brian Otilo, asked me a question outside our official fireworks.
He asked; why is it that every Labour Leader in Akwa Ibom State ends up becoming an Aide to the Governor, is it their birthright?
I chuckled and said; Akpabio is a rewarder of ‘good’ labourers.
During Sen Akpabio’s tenure as the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Workers Welfare was one of his priorities.
The popular 13th month salary AKA ‘Akpabio-Ember’ which was stopped by successive Government is still fresh on the minds of Akwa Ibom workers.
And truly the God of 13th will wait for Akpabio on the 13th of June 2023.
As the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration hit the ground running, One of his major challenges now is his engagement with the organized Labour.
And fortunately, Sen Godswill Akpabio is well vested in such engagements.
As GOA leads the 10th Senate from 13th June 2023, it is expectant that the National Assembly will be Labour friendly.
