JTB’s Single Inter-state road sticker, single haulage fee to curb roadblocks

The Executive Secretary of Joint Tax Board Obomeghie Nana-Aisha, on Tuesday said the implementation of Single Inter-state road sticker, single haulage fee would curb multiple taxation and put an end to roadblocks in the country.
Nana-Aisha made this disclosure during a sensitisation engagement organised in collaboration with Gombe State Internal Revenue Service.

Represented by Senior Manager Samson Daniel, the Executive Secretary remarked that so far no few than 22 states in the Federation have keyed into the policy geared towards harmonising tax regime in the country.
According to the her, the elimination of roadblocks would smoothen Nigeria’s ranking in ease of doing business, urging Gombe stakeholders to key in.

The Executive Secretary said, “Single inter-state road sticker and single haulage fee. The JTB sat together to say can we explore this for the benefit of the state. The Single inter-state road sticker seeks to remove roadblocks when you go through the states, transporters pass through different kinds of road blocks, taxes which is not good for us. In implementation of ease of doing business Nigeria, is ranking very well.”
Explaining further on its decision to implement since it not an old initiative, Nana-Aisha, attributed to the leadership of the current administration adding, “We have come under a serious government, that is ready to work for the benefit of the people, make life easier.”
On his part, Executive Chairman Gombe Internal Revenue Service Salihu Alkali, said they were eager to join the train of implementing states.
Alkali noted that the service is not only committed to boosting revenue but is geared towards ensuring that people benefit from dividends of democracy.
“We have just heard from the JTB. We are going back to the office to look at how we are going about the implementation. The main point is about implementation. It’s a good initiative, it will make life easier for the truck owners and drivers,” Alkali said.
