…he was a gentleman of God, and philanthropist: Northeast CAN Chairman
The remains of Late Rev. Danzaria Darigam ( retd.) cousin to Gombe State Deputy Governor Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau, were committed to mother earth at his home town, Gurma Kulani in Balanga Local Government Area.
The burial was preceded by a funeral service at ECWA Church Gurma, where sympathisers were seen mourning the death of the deceased Clergyman.
Addressing the sympathisers Jatau said like any other death, they have accepted the demise of their relation as the will of God Almighty whose verdict is final.
“Death is the will of God. Every mortal shall die at the appointed time. In the Nigeria of today whenever people see and burry the bodied of their loved ones, they are lucky, just as we are, for burring our own today.
“The rate at which kidnapping is taking place and the rate of stealing of people, and other heinous crimes, as well as accidents and disasters which consumes people, leaving no trace of flesh to be buried have become so alarming that one is tempted to count those dead as being lucky like captured in the song of the famous Hausa singer Danmaraya of Jos, Plateau State.
“Death should teach us a lesson about the end of mortality by posing the great challenge of numbering our days. All the living should know that as they pursue their endeavours and carry out activities in life there is a day that should be the end.
“The deceased has exhausted is time line. He has done his part and returned to his creator, what will you do to be remembered for,” Jatau asked.
Quoting from the scriptures the Deputy Governor called on the people with particular reference to the youths to use their strength while they are still strong and able to serve God.
He appreciated all those who contributed to the success of the funeral service.
While welcoming the people and speaking on behalf of the church, the North-East Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, Mr Abare Kalla, who is also the Chairman ECWA Waja District Churches Council ( DCC) said the deceased has contributed alot to the church and the society having served in various churches and retired in Waja DCC.
He described the deceased as a gentleman Reverend who behaved responsibly even at retirement, calling on all pastors to emulate him.
In his sermon, Reverend Yakubu Jonathan the immediate past Assistant Secretary, Waja DCC spoke on the topic “Teach me to know when I shall die”.
The Clergyman took his text from Psalms 39 verse 4 where he stressed that people should be ready for their end since nobody knows when it will come.
He explained that, death is the same but the causes and circumstances surrounding it, is what makes the difference, pointing out that the only sure remedy is trusting in God for their eternity to be secured.
The District Head of Kulani, Umar Alhaji Umar sympathised with the family and the Church urging them to accept the death as an act of God which can never be questioned.
