In the spirit of Democracy Day, the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Osun chapter, has urged Governor Ademola Adeleke, to place the welfare of the people of Osun State at the top of his priority list.

This call comes as APGA Osun reaffirmed its commitment to democratic values, good governance, and the upliftment of the citizens.

In a press statement signed by APGA Osun Chairman, Wole Adedoyin, said Democracy Day serves as a reminder of the importance of democracy and the responsibilities of elected officials towards the people they represent.

The Statement partly read, APGA Osun believes that a government’s primary duty is to cater for the needs and aspirations of the populace, and we implore Governor Ademola Adeleke to embrace this principle wholeheartedly.

“The people of Osun State have placed their trust in Governor Ademola Adeleke, and his administration to deliver on the promises made during the election campaign. It is crucial that their welfare remains at the forefront of every decision and action taken by the government. APGA Osun calls upon the Governor to prioritize key areas such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, and job creation.”

While enumerating Education, Healthcare, Infrastructure and Unemployment, Adedoyin, disclosed that every serious society places premium on them.

“Education is the foundation upon which a prosperous society is built. APGA Osun emphasizes the need for increased investment in education, including the provision of quality infrastructure, training for teachers, and accessible educational opportunities for all. Governor Ademola Adeleke must ensure that no child in Osun State is denied the chance to receive a proper education.

“Healthcare is a fundamental right of every citizen. APGA Osun urges Governor Ademola Adeleke to prioritize the improvement of healthcare infrastructure, access to quality healthcare services, and the recruitment and retention of qualified healthcare professionals. The government must work towards achieving universal healthcare coverage, ensuring that no individual is left behind due to financial constraints.

“Infrastructure development is essential for economic growth and improved living standards. APGA Osun calls on Governor Ademola Adeleke to invest in the development and maintenance of critical infrastructure such as roads, electricity, water supply, and telecommunications. These investments will not only enhance the quality of life for the people of Osun State but also attract investors and stimulate economic activities.

“Unemployment remains a significant challenge facing our society. APGA Osun urges Governor Ademola Adeleke to prioritize job creation initiatives and promote an enabling environment for businesses to thrive. By focusing on entrepreneurship, vocational training, and the expansion of industries, the government can empower the youth and create opportunities for sustainable employment,” the statement added.

Adedoyin also urged Adeleke on transparency, adding that every functional setting should involve Civil Society Organisations for the sake of openness.

The statement added, “Furthermore, APGA Osun emphasizes the need for transparency, accountability, and inclusivity in governance. The government should foster a participatory democracy by involving citizens in decision-making processes and ensuring that their voices are heard. APGA Osun encourages Governor Ademola Adeleke to engage with civil society organisations, the private sector, and other stakeholders to promote good governance and create an inclusive society.

“On this Democracy Day, APGA Osun reiterates its commitment to supporting the government’s efforts in achieving a prosperous and democratic Osun State. We call on Governor Ademola Adeleke to heed the people’s call for improved welfare, and we stand ready to collaborate and offer constructive contributions towards the realisation of this vision.”
