Police arrest 11 kalare boys over disruption of peace, possession of weapons in Gombe

No fewer than 11 members of suspected youth-group commonly referred to kalare boys have been arrested by combined effort of operation Hattara.
Hattara comprises of Police and other security agencies working to ensure peaceful co-existence within the metropolis.
According to a press statement made available to journalists by the Command’s Public Relations Officer ASP Mahid Abubakar, they were nabbed at Tudun-Wada and Checheniya quarters.
The statement disclosed the members of the gang include; Abdullahi Saleh aged 18 years old, Yusuf Shitu aged 18 years, Musa Saleh aged 20, Usman Suleiman aged 23 years, Ahmed Alhassan aged 19 years, Aliyu Yakubu aged 21 years.
Others are; 21-year-old Sadiq Adamu,
Dauda Ibrahim, 18-year-old
Haruna Mohammed, 16-year-old
Salim Abubakar, and 18-year-old
Abdulsalam Moh’d Rabi’u.
Abubakar said, “On the 30th May 2023 at about the communities of Pantami, Malam-inna, Tudun-Wada and Checheniya quarters areas of Gombe metropolis reported at the office of Operation Hattara that some groups of boys suspected to be Kalare boys are terrorising and carrying out nefarious activities in their neighbourhood.
“On receipt of the complaint Operation Hattara swung into action and stormed the criminal hideouts at different locations where they successfully arrested the above-mentioned suspects who confessed to have participated in such acts, case will soon be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation for possible prosecution. Exhibits recovered include the following:
Seven cutlasses, three knives.”
Abubakar appealed to the good people of the state to continue to partner with the police by taking a keen interest in issues of their personal security, “neighbourhood safety by providing useful information on the activities of any suspicious individuals or groups,” the statement partly added.
