USAID S2S Activity holds third quarter pause, reflect session in Gombe
The United States Agency for International Development USAID State Accountability Transparency and Effectiveness State to State Activity Gombe field office has held the third quarter pause and reflect session with line ministries, departments and agencies as well as civil society organisations .
The Pause and Reflect Activity held at the custodian Hotel Gombe was to review activities conducted within period under review, successes, challenges and way forward.
Participants were grouped to discuss on solutions to issues raised and presented for deliberations and questioning.
The Pause and Reflect session of the third quarter focused on citizens engagement and effectiveness of service delivery in the core areas of health, Education, water sanitation and hygiene (WASH ) and identified laws and policies that exist in the MDAs
Stating the objectives of the Activity, the Monitoring Evaluation and Learning Specialist Mr Adetayo Apasa, who coordinated the session, outlined the objectives of the session to include: identify and capture lessons learned and make recommendations that can be used to improve project performance and outcomes.
To strengthen the collaboration among both state and non-state actors, State2State activity and other implementing partners.To share experiences and knowledge across relevant stakeholders and partners to generate new insights.
To elicit the views of stakeholders on the implementation of the State2State activities ( negative and positive) that can be applied to adjust, adapt, implement and maximise results .
The Gombe State2State Activity field office Public Finance Management Specialist Mr Oluwatosin Oke, enumerated activities implementated in fiscal year three,quarter two and three to include, Budget Preparation, multi year budget performance analysis, completion and submission of gombe Internally Generated Revenue( IGR) expansion strategy, Local Government Areas PFM roundtable.
Other interventions and Technical support Oke added, are preparation of 2024-2026 Medium Term Fiscal Framework and Medium-Term Budget Framework which he said it is ongoing, Annual Procurement Planning Monitoring of Association of Non Governmental Organisations on Budget implementation and tracking among other activities implementated
In a remarks Abdullahi Mohammed a person with disability appreciated State to State Activity for an all inclusive programme saying that has given people with disabilities contribute their quoter to nation building
Mohammad said they are always carried along in activities without discrimination and are given special consideration to ensure they actively participate.
Also Speaking Mrs Ronas Saleh Tula, from the Ministry of Health said State2State Activity has accorded her the opportunity to interact and learn from other disciplines saying she now know what is happening in the education and water sectors as well as people with disabilities.
She also commended the State2State Activity for collaborating with Gombe state government to ensure good governance and implementation of activities .
Earlier in an address of welcome, the State2State Gombe State field office team lead Alhaji Mohammad Abubakar, said the State2State activity has conducted and implemented activities during the period under review hence the meeting is to reflect on the activities.
He urged participants to make meaningful contributions to achieve the meeting’s objectives.
