Yakubu-Sarma wins reelection as Gombe FA Chair

The Gombe State Football Association on Saturday, held its 2023 elective congress where the incumbent Chairman, Philibus Yakubu-Sarma, was reelected.
Yakubu-Sarma elected alongside other officials would pilot the affairs of the association for another four years.

He polled twelve votes to defeat his closest rival, Aliyu Umar Sunmonu, who got five votes during the elective congress which held at Mawato Hall, Kaltungo.
In his acceptance speech, Yakubu-Sarma promised to carry everyone along in his leadership to develop football in Gombe state.
Earlier in his opening remarks, he had reeled out some achievements recorded under his stewardship which includes; increase in the number of clubs playing the state league estimated above hundred, return of Gombe United to Nigerian Premier league, promotion of Doma United to the premier league, increase in the number of match commissioners, and promotion of referees and coaches among others.

While appreciating the support of Gombe State government under the leadership of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, he expressed optimism that “the successes recorded will be doubled in the next four years,” Yusuf-Sarma said.
Other officials elected to run the affairs of Gombe State Football Association are Ibrahim Gimba, as Vice chairman I and Ibrahim Jalo Majidadi, as vice chairman II.
Others are Anas Bamusa, and Danladi Yahaya as board members, Gombe North, Shehu Suleiman and Mohammed Auwal Adamu, as board members, Gombe Central while Shuaibu Simon Kamo, and Saul Kombo Kubo, will serve as board members Gombe South.
Relevant stakeholders such the Nigerian Football Federation and the Gombe State Sports Commission among others who spoke during the elective congress urged the newly elected officials to avoid sentiments, adding that there is not sentiment in Football.
