Gombe Gov inaugurates State Advisory Council

A 11-Member Advisory Council on Monday was inuagurated by Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, with the charge to provide their invaluable recommendations and insights.

Their inputs our correspondent reports would shape the formulation of impactful policies, transformative initiatives, and progressive programmes that are essential for fostering inclusive development, sustainable peace, robust economic growth, and long-term prosperity.

Inaugurating the committee, the governor said the formation of the Council at this critical time is a testament to his government’s commitment to consult and collaborate with its citizens as well as to also lends credence to his unwavering dedication to harnessing the collective wisdom and expertise of Gombe State’s most exceptional citizens, who have consistently demonstrated outstanding accomplishments across diverse fields of human endeavour.
According to him, “Since assuming office in 2019, our administration has consistently exemplified its unwavering commitment to stakeholder engagement and knowledge-driven policy-making. From meticulously conducting a thorough Needs assessment of our state to successfully conceiving and producing a comprehensive 10-year development plan (DEVAGOM), which is the first of its kind in the history of our dear state as well as pursuing its vigorous implementation over the last four years. This plan provides a holistic roadmap for the sustainable development of the state which is in alignment with the sustainable development goals (SDGs) that terminates in 2030.”
Inuwa reiterated that their remarkable contributions in diverse fields, be it academia, the private sector, healthcare, or public service, are a shining testament to the extraordinary capabilities of his people, adding further, “your accomplishments not only inspire us but also highlight the vast potential that lies within our communities. Your expertise and achievements will undoubtedly serve as invaluable assets as we navigate the path towards a brighter future for all.”
“As a vital advisory body, the council holds a pivotal role in shaping the trajectory of Gombe State. You, as trusted members, will serve as the driving force behind our shared vision. Your invaluable recommendations and insights will shape the formulation of impactful policies, transformative initiatives, and progressive programs that are essential for fostering inclusive development, sustainable peace, robust economic growth, and long-term prosperity,” he said.
He pointed out that their guidance will chart a course towards a future that uplifts every citizen and ensures a thriving and harmonious Gombe State for generations yet unborn.
The Gombe State Honorary Advisory Council has the following as members:-
(i) Prof. Idris Mohammed – Chairman
(ii) Dr. Ibrahim Jalo Daudu – Member
(iii) Mal. Muhammad-kabir Ahmad – Member
(iv) Prof. Baba Yusuf Abubakar – Member
(v) Dr. Mika Ismaila Jimeta – Member
(vi) Prof. Fatima B.J. Sawa – Member
(vii) Engr. Saidu Aliyu Mohammed – Member
(viii) Arc. Suleiman Moh’d Kumo – Member
(ix) Engr. Abubakar Bappah – Member
ix) Dr. Mu’azu Shehu – Secretary
He added that the calibre of persons selected to this State Honorary Advisory council have individual and collective capacities and experiences that can impact positively in governance as they are all tested and trusted technocrats who have proven themselves at national and international levels.
The Governor listed the functions of the State Honorary Advisory Council are as follows;
(i) To provide specialists and strategic advice on any aspect of Governance;
(ii) To advice on policy frameworks and implementation strategies for the actualisation of Gombe State Development Plan 2021 – 2030 (Development Agenda for Gombe State (DEVAGOM);
(iii) To identify gaps in skills and competences and advice Government on how to mitigate and bridge them;
(iv) Submit quarterly report of your assignment and any other advice for the Governor’s consideration and implementation.
Responding, the Chairman of the Committee, Professor Idris Mohammed, promised that the Committee will not fail the state but will do its best to uphold the confidence, trust, patriotism the State Government and people of Gombe had in them.
