Following recent postings in the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Nigeria, the Pastor-in-charge of Gombe Province, Gabriel Omotayo Wayas, has been deployed to Ogun State.
The members of the Gombe Province organised a send-forth service in his honour at the church’s premises along Ministry of Education Road Government Reserved Area in the metropolis.
The Deputy Governor of Gombe State, Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau, who was the special guest of honour at the occasion described the pastor as a blessing to Gombe State.
He said since meeting the pastor for the first time, the pastor has made positive declarations for Gombe State which are gradually coming to pass.
“The first time I met with Pastor Wayas was during my routine visits to different churches to Gombe State. On the day, I visited this church he told me to go and tell our Governor that the meaning of GOMBE is God’s Own Miraculous Blessed Empire” which I did. Since then we have been recording successes in the state. That Gombe is free from serious security problems which denies people from other states to engage in legitimate activities is a testimony. That we have understanding between the diverse religious, and tribal interests groups is also an attestation to this. We have achieved a lot in the state even though we receive the least grant is part of the blessings,” he said.
He congratulated the pastor for successfully working in the state and prayed that God may continue to help him in his pastoral work, in his new working place.
Jatau said, “Pastor Wayas has redeemed his time and worked according to the provision of John Chapter 9 verse 4 which says ” I must do the work of my Master who sent me while it is still day” and Ecclesiastes chapter 12; verse 1b, which says ” … before evil days shall come when you will say , ” I find no pleasure in them” and have therefore been successful in discharging his responsibilities.”
The Deputy Governor noted the significant role of the church in building acceptable morals in the society, and call on the youths to take advantages of the available opportunities to build their future.
“May I use this opportunity to tell the youths that, they have the potentials to help themselves. If you don’t help yourself nobody will do that for you, and nobody will limit your potentials to growth except you limit yourself. Take advantage of the opportunities you have today, to plan your tomorrow”.
” At times people blame others or charms for their failures which is never the case, brace up, take bold steps to make a positive change and you will succeed,” He added.
During the sermon, Pastor Abraham Okonu, drew the attention of the congregation on need to do everything to the glory of God.
He drew his text from the book of hebrews Chapter 11 verse 6, and revelation chapter 22 verse 12, admonishing the congregation to acknowledge God in all their undertaking, for God is a perfect record keeper and rewards according to work done.
The pastor who spoke on the theme ” the great rewarder” said, send-forth programme is not to give reward for a service but to remind believers that there is someone who is the great rewarder of service, and he is God Almighty, calling on the people to discharge their responsibilities very well in line with scriptural injunction for them to be rewarded accordingly.
The celebrant, Pastor Wayas, appreciated the hospitality of the people of Gombe State and the religious tolerance that creates an atmosphere of peaceful coexistence.
He said, throughout his stay in Gombe he has made acquaintances with Muslims who visits him and offered him and his family Sallah gifts during Sallah celebrations, praying for such understanding to continue for peace and progress of the state.
The pastor highlighted that, tolerance among the diverse interests groups in the state has been the secret of the successes being achieved in the state leading to unprecedented transformations.
He appreciated the Deputy Governor for his humility, promptness, and accepting his invitations while he was serving in Gombe, stressing that he will miss the people of Gombe State.
The event featured songs ministration and special prayers for the pastor and his family, for God to be with him in his new place of posting.
