Gombe Rice Millers suspend Secretary over misconduct
The Gombe Rice Millers and Processors, Nigeria Limited, has suspended its General Secretary, Anas Musa, on grounds of gross misconduct.
Our correspondent reports the suspension came after an emergency meeting which was held by the Executive Committee of the association.
At the meeting, the Chairman of the Rice Millers, Lawan Yusuf, and 10 other executive members signed the resolution suspending the General Secretary.
According to the association, this suspension is sequel to a series of allegations levelled against the General Secretary Anas Musa, which include his recent negligence of duty and act of insubordination and disobedience to the association.
Other issues that were raised against the General Secretary, bordered on lack of capacity to diligently discharge the duties of his office, which was said to have caused more distraction to the association.
The Executive Committee said its unanimously exercised the prescribed powers in an emergency meeting under the association’s constitution to suspend Musa from office with immediate effect pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation.
“The association notifies the Ministry of Cooperative and Rural Development and the general public that Anas Musa, was suspended as Secretary General.
“Habu Kabiru Ibrahim, has been appointed as the acting Secretary to the cooperative pending the outcome of the investigation,” the resolution partly read.
