Imo Govt splashes cash reward on “INVINCIBLE” Heartland FC
The Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has commended Heartland Football Club of Owerri for making Imo State proud by winning the Nigeria National League competition held in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
He made the commendation over the weekend when the Team alongside her management and supporters paid him, a courtesy call at the Imo State Government House Owerri to present the NNL Championship Trophy.
Receiving the Team on behalf of the Governor, the Chief of Staff, Barrister Nnamdi Anyaehie, hailed the team on their excellent performance at the tournament that gave them the title.
Uzodimma reminded Heartland that they won the competition because God’s grace was sufficient for them, hence the entire Imo citizens who collectively prayed for their success are excited over their victory.
Presenting the NNL Champions to the Governor, the State Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Emeka Okorokwo, said that the team was committed to the victory by exhibiting gallantry and consistency which saw them finish with aplomb, Unhurt unscathed and Unbeaten in 14 Matches.
An elated Okoronkwo informed the governor that two players in the team were adjudged the best in the Competition.
Erikan Francis was named the Most Valuable Player while Heartland’s Number 1 goal Keeper Chisom Chiagha, was named the Best Goal Keeper of the tournament.
Reacting the governor commended Heartland’s management led by Mr Promise Nwachukwu, for making Imo People proud.
He commended the Team and the Coaches led by Christian Obi for rising to the occasion.
He assured the team that they would be hosted at a later date. He appreciated the Team with 1 Million Naira
The Technical Adviser got 500 Thousand Naira
Another 1.1 million for goals scored by the Team and 250,000 for the Supporters and Columbians .
Responding, the General Manager Nwachukwu, appreciated the magnanimity of the governor whom he described as a Great Leader. He assured that the Team would build on it’s current Success to achieve more. He applauded the visionary leadership of the Commissioner of Sports Hon Emeka Okoronkwo whose drive for Success pushed the Team to deliver.
” It’s a new dawn for Heartland FC, This will go a long way to inspire the Team, I will love to appreciate our Governor, My Commissioner of Sports who has been wonderful, pushing the team to succeed,

Nwachukwu assured that with the collaborative effort of the government and the football stakeholders, the team is determined to achieve it’s set objectives and bounce back with a bang.
