NYP hails Tinubu’s emergence as ECOWAS Chairman
The Nigeria Youth Parliament has hailed President Bola Tinubu, on his emergence as the Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States.

In a congratulatory message obtained by PERISCOPE NIGERIA, which was endorsed by the Speaker of Nigeria Youth Parliament Dr Azeezat Yishawu, the Parliament described the emergence of President Tinubu at the 63rd Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS as a good omen, “to the image of Nigeria as well as an attestation of Nigeria’s place of prominence and leadership in Africa in general and west Africa in particular,” the Speaker’s statement partly read.

Recall that Tinubu who took over from President Umaro Embalo of Guinea Bissau as ECOWAS chair pledged to operationalise the ECOWAS standby Force on Fight Against Terrorism, harmonized frameworks to actualise the dreams of ECOWAS and implement the Regional Plan of Action on Fight against Terrorism 2020-2024 as well as bear the responsibility of the office and run an inclusive administration of the regional organisation.
He further warned against the emerging pattern of coup d’etat in West Africa where soldiers have truncated the popular mandate of the people, President Tinubu charged ECOWAS to stand firm in defence of democracy.
He called for collective action from member states because, without a stable and peaceful government in ECOWAS member states, progress and development in the region will continue to remain elusive.
