Rotary Action Group organises workshop on MPCDSR data management in Gombe
Rotary Action Group for Reproductive, Maternal and Child Health has organised a three-day capacity building training on Maternal, Prenatal, Child, Death, Surveillance and Response electronic data platform as a government approved tool for data management.

The training which started on Tuesday at Laylah Hotel Gombe was for health workers on Emergency Obstetrics and Neonatal care, Health Management Information Officers, Monitoring and Evaluation Officers and Medical Record officers from Gombe and Yamaltu Deba Local Government Areas as well as the state committee on MPCDSR.
According to the Rotary Action Group country Director Professor Emmanuel Lufadeju, the training was necessitated by the burden of the current high rate of maternal and child death in the country and the state and the need to take drastic steps to curtail the trend.
He appreciated the support of its German counterpart in ensuring that maternal and child death in Nigeria is reduced to the bearest minimum.
While also applauding Gombe State Government for accepting the electronic platform donated by Rotary for the purpose of recording and evaluating maternal and Perinatal Child death.
Professor Lufadeju said, “with the electronic platform, data of various health care facilities can be access on real time and decisions will be made to change the narrative on maternal and child death in the state.
“The electronic data capturing will begin in Gombe and Yamaltu Deba Local government areas and thereafter extended to other local government areas and other parts of the country.”
In his remarks, the state Rotary Representative, Muhammad Dantata Ndus, said the activities of the NGO have increased the capacity of health workers thereby complementing the effort of the government in health care service delivery in the state.
The state Primary Health care Development Agency acting Executive Secretary Maryam Abubakar, said with the priority on health by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, the data collected from the electronic platform would be used to take appropriate measures towards reducing maternal and child death, while assuring of sustainability of the NGO’s programmes even after their interventions in the state.
