Committee targets 3890 beneficiaries in Nafada, Funakaye LGAs for palliatives
In continuation of distribution of interventions to the people across the state, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has launched the distribution of food and non food items in Nafada and Funakaye Local Government Areas.
The distribution of palliatives was to ameliorate the suffering of the people from economic hardship occasioned by the current global economic downturn and the effects of fuel subsidy removal.
Addressing beneficiaries in the two local governments the Governor said, the intervention was a reflection of the Commitment of his administration to the welfare of the people in the state.
Represented by his Deputy, Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau, the Governor charged the respective Committees at the various levels to ensure the palliatives get to the target beneficiaries, calling on the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the materials and assist those who did not get, in line with religious tenets.
Also speaking, the Chairman Steering Committee for Distribution of Palliatives and Executive Secretary State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) Alhani Abdullahi Haruna Abdullahi, informed the gathering in Nafada that a total number of 1310 people would benefit from the total 131 polling units of the Local Government Area.
In Bajoga, Funakaye Local Government Area Alhaji Abdullahi Haruna Abdullahi, disclosed that 2580 beneficiaries are selected from the 258 polling units comprising of ten households from each polling unit.
He said every beneficiary shall go home with 2 bags of fertiliser, a carton of spaghetti, a 5kilogram packet of rice and two litres of Agro- chemicals.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Alh. Abdullahi emphasised that all the items are meant for one beneficiary, calling on them to extend love to others by giving them out of gesture and not coercion or intimidation.
While in Nafada, the All Progressive Congress Chairman Alh. Adamu Masad, and the Caretaker Chairman, Alh.Saleh Shuaibu Dandale, commended the efforts of the Governor by promptly responding to the plight of the people by ameliorating their suffering as a result of the excrutiating economic hardship.
The Emir of Nafada, Alh. Dadum Hamza, expressed the gratitude of his people to the Government under the leadership of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for having the people of Nafada at heart by always coming to intervene in their situations.
He called on his subjects to continue to pray for God’s wisdom, guidance and protection that people will continue to enjoy his leadership.
In Bajoga, Funakaye Local Government Area, the APC Chairman, Alh. Kawu Zittu and Local Government Caretaker chairman, Alh. Ibrahim Adamu Chaldu said apart from the timely intervention with food and non food items, the Governor has done a lot to the Local Government by upgrading the General Hospital and a providing a lot of interventions to the people in the local Government among others, praying God to reward his efforts.
The Emir of Funakaye, Alh. Yakubu Mohammed Kwairanga the fourth expressed happiness over the quick intervention provided to the people by the Governor, pointing out that it is an act of love sympathy and concern of the Government to the people in the area.
The beneficiaries who spoke at the occasion, Audi Mai shinkafa, and Asabe Mohammed appreciated the Governor for considering them to benefit from the gesture, and prayed God Almighty grants the Governor, his Deputy and SSG their aspirations in life.
Inside the Palaces of Nafada and Funakaye, the Secretary to Government of the State, Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, conveyed the message of the Governor to the traditional institutions on the need to support all the policies and programmes of the Government.
In the message the SGS assured of Governors resolve to provide them with conducive environment for performing their responsibilities as custodians of customs and traditions but cautioned them against any act of sabotage against his administration.
The Traditional Rulers, pledged total support and loyalty to the Governor and Government towards meeting the needs of the people in the state.
The Permanent Secretaries and members of the Steering Committee for the distribution of Palliatives witnessed the event in both local governments.
