Current economic meltdown: Jatau preaches love, sympathy, others
…says, it’s time to explore more avenues for income towards mitigating hardship
…. as ECWA Number One, Bolari observes Widows’ Day
The Deputy Governor of Gombe State, Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau, has called on Christians to imbibe the spirit of love, caring and sharing to be able to reduce the burden and pains people are passing through in this period of economic meltdown.
The Deputy Governor who was Guest Preacher on Sunday, during the Widows Day at ECWA Church, Bolari Gombe said, assisting people out of their problems is a biblical injunction which must be adhered to in practice of true religion.
Preaching on the topic ” assisting others in order to please God” the Deputy Governor quoted the bible saying” pure religion is one that takes care of the widows, orphans and the less privileged in the society.”
He said, giving in the bible is a prerequisite to receiving from God just like seeking for assistance is in order because human beings are created with varying gifts, so those who have should assist those who do not have.
Taking his anchor text from Galatians chapter 6 verse 2, Dr Jatau stressed the need for believers to always seek to bear one another’s burden with a view to putting smiles on people’s faces especially in these trying times of economic hardship.
He noted that, it takes those who have, to assist, therefore people must occupy economic spheres as suggested by this year’s ECWA theme “occupy till I come” so that they may be in a better position to assist others.
He called on the people, especially the youths to engage themselves in any legitimate economically viable ventures not insisting on white collar jobs because white collar jobs are in very limited supply nowadays.
He called on the members of the congregation to obey the scriptural injunction of assisting the widows and orphans so as to escape the wrath of God which hovers over the heads of those who do not assist them.
The Deputy Governor commended the Pastors and Elders of the church for organising the Widows’ Day programme in fulfilment of the will of God towards putting smiles on their faces and appreciated the privilege given to him to preach during the programme.
Earlier, the Senior Reverend of the church, Rev. John K. Newgrow, welcomed the Deputy Governor and introduced him as the preacher during the programme.
