Gombe: 30,000 poor, vulnerable residents benefit from Gov Yahaya’s palliatives

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, on Tuesday provided palliatives to 30,000 poor and vulnerable in the first phase, adding that a total of 420,000 are targeted.
Yahaya made this disclosure in Hinna, Dadinkowa, Yalmatu Deba Local Government Area of Gombe State.

Our correspondent reports that the items packaged as palliatives include two bags of fertiliser, 5kg rice, one carton of marcaroni two litres of pesticides.
According to him, the distribution was geared towards ensuring no one was left behind during this period Yahaya described as trying time, adding those comfortable should give a supporting hand to the downtrodden.
Yahaya said, “The distribution palliative programme is expected to target 420,000 beneficiaries across the 11 Local Government Areas.
“The phase one which we are launching today will target 30,000 beneficiaries each beneficiary will receive one bag of 5kg rice, one carton of marcaroni, two bags of fertiliser and two litres of pesticides.”
He explained that the inclusion of agricultural input was strategic, adding that, “Considering the fact that 80 percent of our people are farmers are engaged in agriculture this will provide them with the necessary support in order to ensure bountiful harvest and rural livelihood and promote food security especially in the up coming dry season it is important to know that this palliative programme is not just about sharing food and agricultural items it’s also about extending hand of support and demonstrating our dedication to the wellbeing of citizens of Gombe State.”
Yahaya urged the palliatives committee to share the items conscientiously, adding that the items were specifically packaged to support those facing challenges.
…..Gombe gov visits Dadinkowa mega school
Meanwhile, Yahaya who undertook inspection of a Mega school in Dadinkowa said, “This is part of the mega school project that this government embarked on. Our intention is for us to have not less than 3,000 students per school with good learning environment and facilities for both students and teachers. With the necessary services they require including roads water supply sanitation and power, by September ending we should have full complement.”
On his satisfaction to the project inspected Yahaya said, “I’m satisfied but I have asked the contractors to fast track the process of delivery so that we can takeoff in time.”
