Gombe equips state fire service directorate with basic tools
The Gombe State Government has restated commitment to equipping the state Fire Service Directorate to ensure protection of lives and property of the citizenry.

The Secretary to Government of Gombe State, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, stated this while inspecting fire fighting equipment procured by the government at the Ministry for Special Duties.

Njodi said the Governor Muhammadu Yahaya-led attaches high premium on “the overall well-being of the people and would continue to provide the necessary equipment for the Fire Service Directorate to enable it function maximally,” he said.
Njodi admonished the Ministry of Special Duties and Fire Service Directorate in particular on the proper and effective use of the equipment.
He also challenged the Ministry to come up with innovations adding, “that will assist government to improve the Services of the Fire Fighting Directorate.”
He further announced the government plan to retrain personal of the fire fighting directorate in modern techniques and to also keep them abreast with best global practices.
Receiving the SGS, the Permanent Secretary of Ministry Mrs Laraba Yari, appreciated the governor for the timely approval of funds for procurement of the fire fighting equipment which she said, “will greatly enhance the productivity of the Directorate.”
In his comment, the head of Fire Service Directorate Gerson Maiborgo, commended the state government for providing the equipment and appealed for modern Fire Fighting trucks.
The equipment supplied include fire hose and safety items like rain boots, hand gloves, helmets and others.
