The Committee in charge of distribution of palliatives across the state towards cushioning effect of global economic crises and recent fuel subsidy removal has commenced distribution of food and non food items in Kwami Local Government Area.

The exercise was performed by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, represented by his Deputy Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau.

Performing the event, the Governor noted that his administration shall never relent in discharging it’s responsibilities of responding to the needs of the people.

He said the the hardship that is afflicting the people is creating so much stress on general livelihood of the people which necessitated the Government to promptly come in and salvage the situation.

Debunking the insinuations that the hardship is caused by the APC administration the Governor explained that it is not only affecting Nigeria but a global issue, adding that “for those who have been reading their holy books know that, there shall come a time like this when there shall be pestilences and hardship. So this is one of such times.”

“This intervention is wholly coming from the state government. Nothing is yet to come from the federal government, and when it eventually comes we will distribute them to you,” he added.

He called on the people especially the youths to engage in farming and other legitimate means of earning livelihood and increasing incomes as a way of mitigating effects of the hardship.

The Chairman State Steering Committee for distribution of palliatives, and Executive Secretary State Emergency Management Agency informed the gathering that the Governor in his magnanimity and sympathy for the people has approved the distribution of palliatives to the vulnerable people in the state, adding that, in Kwami Local Government Area  2370 people shall benefit, comprising of 10 beneficiaries from the  237 polling units of the Local Government.

He called on the respective Committees to ensure judicious distribution of the items consisting of rice five kg, fertiliser two bags, spaghetti one carton, and Agro-chemicals two litres.

In their separate remarks, the State Deputy Chairman All Progressive Congress, Alhaji Baba Abuja, the Caretaker Chairman, Kwami Local Government Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Buba Makama, appreciated the concern of the Governor to the people in the state including Kwami Local Government.

The Senior District Head of Kwami and Ajiya of Gombe, Alhaji Aminu Haruna Abdullahi, said the people of his district shall remain ever grateful to this administration for great love shown to them.

Inside the palace of the District Head, the Secretary to Government of Gombe State Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, conveyed the message of the Governor requesting the Traditional institutions to support his administration and avoid any act of sabotage, stressing that whoever is found sabotaging the policies and Programs of the Government shall not be taken lightly.

He said, the new changes in the Policies concerning the traditional institutions was to avoid bureaucratic bottlenecks in the channels of communication between the Governor and the traditional institutions for good governance.

The Senior District Head of Kwami, Alhaji Aminu Haruna Abdullahi, applauded the Governor’s concern for the traditional institutions in the state and pledged the total support of his district to the administration for continued transformation of the state.

The Acting Head of Service, Alhaji Ahmed Abdullahi Kasimu, and Permanent Secretaries were among those who witnessed the distribution of the palliatives.
