Gombe Govt to partner Police Community Relations Committee towards safety of residents
…as Deputy Gov receives North-East PCRC officials in his office
The Deputy Governor of Gombe State, Manassah Daniel Jatau, has reiterated government’s commitment to partnering Police Community Relations Committee and any organisation towards ensuring the safety of lives and properties of the people in the state.

Jatau who played host to the National Vice Chairman North-East in his office said, the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, is exploring all avenues to ensure the people of the state go on with their legitimate activities without fear of molestation.
The Deputy Governor explained that the activities of the Police Community Relations Committee is very much in tandem with the state government’s commitment on areas of security and commended them for complementing the activities of the administration in meeting the security needs of the people.

He informed them that they have applied the system theory in handling security matters by involving stakeholders including, Traditional Rulers, Community and Religious Leaders, Local Hunters, among others to ensure all sections were carried along in tackling security matters.
He advised them to always frown at issues capable of causing security threat and breach, by providing relevant information to the regular security operatives who would ensure apprehension of the criminals and make sure they are punished accordingly.
He called on them to assist in the curving the culture of deviant behaviours amongst the youth, to help change their psyche and perception of recklessness, begging and thuggery towards a crime- free society.
The Deputy Governor also called on them to synergise with other security outfits especially the Operation Hattara in the state metropolis in case they need any emergency assistance, assuring them of government’s support to the PCRC.
Earlier in his remarks the Vice Chairman, North-East Police-Community Relations Committee, Mr Attah Mark Mustapha, said the Committee was set up during the time of Inspector General of Police, Late Etim Iyang with the sole aim of getting credible and reliable members who would help in providing better understanding between the police and the society.
The Vice Chairman who is brother to immediate past Secretary to Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, pointed out the need for the Committee to have an office in the state and an operational vehicle to ease the performance of their activities, appealing for assistance from the government.
Also speaking, the state Chairman, Comrade Garba Ubale Kumo, said the officials of the Six North-East states are meeting in Gombe to discuss matters affecting security in the zone.
He commended the government of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for performing excellently well in the maintenance of peace and order in the state.
The Permanent Secretary, and Director Administration and Finance, Deputy Governor’s Office Mr Bala Mohammed Kaltungo, and Mr. Hamma Ali Ishaku witnessed the event.
