Gov Yahaya commences distribution of relief materials to 2022 flood victims
….. says plans underway to provide a wide range of palliatives to alleviate the suffering of the people
Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has Wednesday commenced distribution of relief materials to persons affected by flood in 2022 in Kwami Local Government Area.

The relief materials provided by the Federal Government through NEMA’s Special Emergency Livelihood Empowerment Intervention include non food and food items.
Represented by the Secretary to Government Gombe State, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, the Governor encouraged the beneficiaries to resist the temptation of selling the items but to ensure judicious use to improve their livelihood.

The Governor also disclosed plans by the state government to provide a wide range of palliatives to alleviate the sufferings of people in the state occasioned by removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government.
He appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for approving the release of the relief materials for distribution to the concerned families to ameliorate the hardship cause by flooding last year.
The governor equally charged those saddled with the task of distributing the materials to be just by ensuring that those genuinely enumerated during the assessment benefit.
The Caretaker Committee Chairman of Kwami Local Government Ibrahim Buba, had in welcome address appreciated Governor Yahaya for keeping to his promise of attracting support to those affected by flood in the area.
Buba assured that his council will closely monitor the distribution of the materials to ensure that justice and fairness prevail advising the beneficiaries against selling off the materials provided for their good.
In his remark, the representative of Director General National Emergency Management Agency NEMA Isah Yakubu, said 13,000 persons are to benefit from the relief materials across the state with Kwami Local Government having over 1,000 beneficiaries.
He said NEMA in conjunction with the State Emergency Management Agency SEMA undertook the enumeration of the affected persons and recommended relief materials that will positively impact on their lives through the Agency’s Special Livelihood Empowerment Intervention Scheme for flood victims across the country.
The Executive Secretary of State Emergency Management Agency SEMA Abdullahi Harana, while commending Governor Yahaya’s doggedness in providing succour to persons in distress disclosed that the items being distributed include food and non food items.
The items being distributed include Sewing Machines, Irrigation water pumping Generators, Rice, Maize,Soya beans seedlings, Insecticides and pesticides.
The event also had in attendance commissioner nominee, Permanent Secretaries in the State Civil service, District Head of Kwami among other dignitaries.
