Kefas: Even before the proverbial 100 days in office
By Emmanuel Bello
The jury is still out but many have already reached the conclusions that Taraba’s “wizkid” Dr Agbu Kefas, even before the famous 100 days in office ceremony, is a performing governor. The same zest that ran the campaign has not waned abit as the ex soldier continue to display commitment and discipline. Straight talking, clear thinking and keeping promises are the trademark.
In the last month and weeks, Dr Kefas has regaled the state with so much. He has fulfilled many campaign promises. He has had meetings with various stakeholders to attract the needed investment. He has laid the foundation for growth as he engages various partners. He has been up and doing. Like MTN, he’s everywhere. He’s indeed Taraba first “street” governor- a man not confined to the four walls of an office. A gadfly. An iconoclast. A maverick.
He is breaking barriers too and, metaphorically, rebooting the state from its inertia and paralysis. Age long issues are getting resolved by clarity and sincere handling. Hope is not only renewed but refreshed and reassured.
And whether it is in education where free education has since become the by word or in the solid mineral sector where the executive order on illegal mining is being enforced, the giant strides are all there to see.
In the Judiciary, the reforms are all too glaring especially with judges welfare that is enjoying better attention from government.
Relatedly, Kefas leadership has helped to solidify the House of Assembly which has made it one of the most vibrant in the country.
In the youth sector, the governor has kept his words. He’s not only made his cabinet the first ever youth centered one in the country, he has helped reshaped youths organizations in the state.
Another area that the kefas effect is felt is security. At a time of global security meltdown, Kefas is bringing his vast intelligence training to bear on the state. The state-sponsored Marshall he reignited and the attention he’s paying to details have paid off.
Yes. It’s just a few weeks into what is shaping up to be one of the best administration in Taraba state history and everyone is testifying.
