…..family seeks justice
Following the rape and killing that erupted on Sunday 30th July, the people of Lankaviri have cried out for justice over the rape and slaughter of one of their own, Miss Wassa Joel Tuwa, an 18-year-old student of Government Day Secondary School Lankaviri.
Before now, Lankaviri, a small village in Yorro LGA of Taraba State has been notably commended for its peaceful communal living as members of this community shared the same tribe and are closely related.
They have enjoyed years of peaceful and happy co-existence and most importantly, majority are farmers. The incidence on Sunday however, has brought fear and shock to the inhabitants.
The deceased pictures made the rounds on most social media platforms by sympathisers and family members.
The funeral was conducted on 2nd August and the family of the deceased were visited and condoled with, most notably by the newly elected chairman of the Mumuye Youths Cultural Development Association Yorro Local Government Area branch Pastor Bulus Bitonopah, the coordinator Nigeria Youth Council of Nigeria Yorro LGA branch Mr Matherson Saul Kassa, (together with their members) and the classmates of late Wassa from GDSS Lankaviri.
The third class chief of Lankaviri, HRH Ganah Mago, addressed and cautioned the youths in his palace to desist from all forms of evil and violence urging them to be law abiding.
