Njodi campaigns for economic trees in Gombe communities
…..inspects NTA Kaltungo, seeks update to the reason for its moribund
The Secretary to Government of Gombe State Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, has advocated for the planting of economic trees for the benefit of communities in the state.

Njodi who gave advice during the inspection and tree planting exercise at the premises of the Nigeria Television Authority NTA Kaltungo Community Station on Monday.
He explained that greening the environment concept of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s administration driven by the ACReSAL world Bank programme is encompassing.
The Gombe State scribe said apart from combating environmental degradation, clean air, wind breaking provision of food in fruits form remain key in advancing the livelihood of the people.
He enjoined the Management of ACReSAL to vigorously seek for traditional trees common in Kaltungo area that have become extinct to help reclaim and preserve them for economic and future generation’s use.

He used the occasion to request the management of NTA Kaltungo Community Station to present to the State Government detailed and comprehensive report on why the station is yet to take off ten years after it’s establishment.
Also speaking, the Mai Kaltungo, Engineer Sale Mohammed, commended the Njodi for leading a powerful team to inspect the NTA Kaltungo to better understand the challenges hindering take off and plant trees to protect and preserve the environment.
Mohammed also appealed for more seedlings especially those that are traditionally identified with the area such as Moringa, low-cost bean, palm trees and many more to cover all parts of the chiefdom assuring of the people’s love for trees.
The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Environment and Forestry Abubakar Hassan, and the State Coordinator of AcreSAL Ambassador Sani Adamu Zauro, pledged to provide the necessary support to Kaltungo Community in their quest to key into the Gombe Goes Green of the Inuwa Yahaya administration targeting planting millions of trees across the state.
They appreciated the commitment of Mai Kaltungo for accepting and providing the enabling environment for people of the Chiefdom the to actively partake in the programme.
Other dignitaries who attended and participated in the brief but important event include the Permanent Secretary Ministry for Local Government Mr Modi Shelphidi and Directors in the service of Gombe State.
The tree planting event which took place at two sites of NTA Kaltungo was earlier preceded by inspection of the NTA facility conducted by its officer in charge, Engineer Abdullahi Aminu.
