NSCDC Commandant vows to flush out criminals from Gombe hideouts
Gombe State Commandant, Nigeria Security Civil Defence Corps, Muhammad Bello Mu’azu, has vowed to make the state unsafe for criminals, stressing that he would take the fight to dislodge them to their various hideouts.

Mu’azu who recently assumed duty at the Gombe State command made this disclosure in his address to his management team on Monday.

According to him, Gombe would no longer be home to criminals adding that “they should be told that a new Sheriff is in town, they should either change or leave the state for peace loving residents.”

He disclosed that already he had started combing criminal hideouts to make the state safe for visitors, residents and citizens to operate freely, assuring that until he actualises a safer state he wouldn’t be fulfilled.

“Already we visited some part of water board area in Pantami, as soon they saw us they chose to run for their lives; it’s better for them. We are going to new and old Nasarawo, bypass. We are taking the caution to their hideouts we are not afraid of them. I will not be a Commandant who merely operates in the office, I will be part of operations to ensure Gombe residents are safe,” he added.

The State Commandant noted that although there are encumbrances to achieving his laudable aspirations, adding that they could be surmounted.
“I intend to start area patrols with vehicles attached to each, we can start with those in the metropolis for lack of adequate patrol vans we will move to other divisions and areas. I will not wait until I get vans, I will get vehicles to go on such operations, if we had adequate patrol vehicles it would have been easier but we can’t wait until peace is restored and those bastards are chased out,” he added.
On staff performance, Mu’azu bemoaned a situation where personnel would close before the stipulated time, stressing that no more would laxity be tolerated in the Command.
“If you are not ready to work with me come and tell me so that we can allow you to another place; we won’t accept a situation where officers close before the normal closing time,” Mu’azu added.
Also, commending the intervention of the NSCDC Commandant, a renowned school teacher and founder of a private school Joseph Adetipe, alongside other residents of Nasarawo lamented the activities of hoodlums.
Adetipe, popularly known as Uncle Lee, who is an indigene of Osun State, said his over 20 years existence had been threatened following the heightened criminal activities in the area.
“They invaded my house took my motorcycle, eight goats. 90 per cent of the entire population of my school are Muslims, while 10 per cent are Christians. I established the school so that the poor can afford its N4,500 as tuition but the criminal activities are becoming unbearable for us to operate,” Adetipe said.
