The Mumuye Youth Cultural Development Association, Taraba State has called on all ethnic groups in the Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal Constituency to support a Mumuye candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party ticket in the forthcoming House of Representatives by-election in the constituency.
Mr Ezekiel Augustine Hammangabdo, President of the association, in a press statement issued to journalists on Tuesday said, the Mumuye people have over time supported their neighbours in the constituency for the seat and have since 2011, ceased to benefit from the seat.
The statement also disclosed that coalition of 10 people from each of the wards across LGAs of the constituency have endorsed a Mumuye candidacy for the PDP ticket and called on all Mumuye stakeholders to rally support towards achieving the objective
“We have watched with keen interest the struggle for the ticket of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming bye-election for the Jalingo/Yorro/Zing federal constituency and wish to state our position as follows:
“That the coalition of 10 people from each of the wards across LGAs of the constituency met and discussed how previous elections into the House of Representatives seat for the constituency were conducted and agreed that both the primary and the main election be conducted in a free, fair and transparent manner.
“The coalition resolved that the Mumuye people have over time supported their neighbours in the constituency for the seat and have since 2011 ceased to benefit from the seat. The coalition therefore, endorsed a Mumuye person for the seat and call on all Mumuye stakeholders to rally support towards achieving the objective.
“That we call on all tribes in the constituency to support a Mumuye person for the seat in the interest of togetherness and in the spirit of give and take.
“The coalition call on all Mumuye delegates of the PDP to show example of togetherness by voting for a Mumuye aspirant to fly the PDP flag,” the statement read.
