Mohbad: Nigerian Youth Parliament seeks justice, thorough investigation
….urges youths to avoid excessive use of hard dugs
The Nigerian Youth Parliament says its deeply saddened by the untimely demise of the popular afrobeats artiste, Ilerioluwa Aloba popularly known as Mohbad.
According to a press statement signed by the Speaker of NYP, Dr Azeezat Yishawu, on Thursday, Mohbad, was not just a remarkable talent but also a source of inspiration and pride for countless Nigerian youths, adding that the deceased music touched hearts, transcending boundaries and uniting youths in celebration.
She said, “His tragic loss has left an irreplaceable void in the Nigerian entertainment industry and the hearts of many. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and fans during this difficult time.
“In response to this grievous loss, the Nigerian Youth Parliament is fully aware that the Lagos State Police Command has set up a 13-man special investigative team to probe the death of Mohbad, however, we call on the Police and other relevant authorities to conduct a transparent and thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his passing. We demand that those responsible for any wrongdoing be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. Also, we expect the Nigerian Police Force to act professionally and responsibly in handling this case.”
While seeking justice for the deceased, the NYP Speaker, appealed for calm, urged the Nigerian youths to avoid the excessive use of hard drugs, owing to its consequences.
“As youth representatives saddled with the responsibility of representing the aspirations of youths in Nigeria, we wish to charge young people to restrain from excessive consumption of hard drugs, as it can cause severe physical, mental, and social consequences, and it is essential for them to make informed decisions and avoid these harmful substances. The Nigerian policies prohibits the use, possession, sale, or trafficking of hard drugs such as cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, and other controlled substances. We, therefore, frown against the use of these drugs at the detriment of the lives and well-being of the people we represent.
“The Nigerian Youth Parliament wishes to appeal to our youth and citizens to maintain calmness and avoid any actions that could escalate tensions or lead to further harm. Let us channel our energies towards constructive efforts to demand justice for our favorite Afrobeat artiste, Mohbad,” Yishawu added.
