The Yola Electricity Distribution Company has promised to make the northeastern part of Nigeria the commercial hub it was destined to be by improving the quality of services.
Mr Olugbenga Adebola Head of Corporate Communication YEDC HQ Yola, stated this while briefing newsmen in Damaturu, the state capital of Yobe.
“We have huge support from our stakeholders, and we will continue to provide power to homes and businesses in the region according to YEDC’S mandate,’’ he said.
According to him, the company in collaboration with the Yobe State Rural Electrification Board, has restored the electricity supply in Damagum, the headquarters of Fune LGA and Ngelzarma Emirate after a heavy windstorm destroyed 18 poles leaving villages under two towns disconnected.
‘‘Several communities like Garin Daye, Mashio, Bingel, Mamudo, Damagum Town, Dogon Kuka – Damagum feeder and Ngelzarma town and villages have been affected by the disaster,” he said.
While speaking, Mahmoud Sajo, the Regional Manager of YEDC Yobe State, said the company has completed 3 pilot projects in Kampala Market, Kasuwan NPN, in Potiskum and Sabon Fegi area in Damaturu.
‘‘Customers in those areas enjoy supply with good voltage and the company had no losses of either technical or commercial. ATC&C is eliminated to zero,” he said.
He added that YEDC is undeterred and will continue to rehabilitate this significantly deteriorated network they met until we make the northeastern part of Nigeria the commercial hub it was destined to be.
