Supreme Court Fire: Two Justices’ chambers affected – Police

 

 

The Federal Capital Territory, Police Command on Monday, confirmed the fire incident at the Nigerian Supreme Court building in Abuja.

It was earlier reported that a section of the Nigerian Supreme Court building at the Three Arms Zone in Abuja had been gutted by fire.

It was learnt that the offices of some justices were affected by the fire incident.

SaharaReporters learnt that workers had been evacuating vital documents and other things from the building to prevent them from getting burnt.

However, the FCT police spokesperson Josephine Adeh, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said only two chambers of two judges were affected.

She said the situation was under control, adding that the fire service and police were on the ground.

However, she said the properties destroyed had yet to be ascertained and an investigation to find out the cause the cause of the incident was ongoing.

The statement reads in part, “On the 25/09/2023 at about 7am there was a fire incident at Supreme Court. Situation under control, fire service and police all on ground, only two chambers of two judges were affected.

“At the moment properties destroyed yet to be ascertained, Cause of fire is still being investigated by appropriate authorities, further information will be communicated later,” the statement added.
